Name: Sombra
Canon: Overwatch
Canon Point: Post-Infiltration short
Age: 30
History:
To know Sombra's history, you need to know the circumstances leading up to her birth. To understand that many years before that, there was a war; a crisis where humanity faced its twilights. Omnics, robot creations of the Omnica Corporation, had turned against humans and were fighting to destroy them all. Only the birth of Overwatch, a taskforce of the most elite humans, was able to halt this crisis and turn it around. However, they could not change the fact that thousands of lives were lost, and thousands more were forever changed. Thousands of children were left orphaned, everything they relied upon lost in the blink of an eye. And these children were all but forgotten in the wake of humanity trying to pull itself back together, and the surviving omnics - no longer mindlessly waging war - trying to endure a world that mistrusted and condemned them.
In the wake of so much chaos and confusion, one little girl discovered that not only did she have a talent for manipulating data, but manipulating people as well. This girl discovered that information held power, and used it to gain the protection of Los Muertos, a gang in Mexico who could certainly profit off her abilities. So she hacked, and hacked, and hacked.
And one day, as she stared in to the lines of code, she realized someone was not only staring back - but that this someone would stop at nothing to kill her so that it could keep its existence a secret. A global conspiracy, a web spanning everyone and everything. She did not let this fear trap her, instead deciding that in order to survive, she would need an upgrade of not only her equipment...but of herself.
This was the birth of Sombra, and the death of that little girl.
Sombra surfaced some time later, not only with her body as her new weapon but with a new drive to succeed. No longer content to rely on the protection of Los Muertos, she had a new mission - discover who was really behind the world. It clearly wasn't Overwatch, who had disbanded some years ago; it wasn't even Talon, their enemies who not only sought their profit above all but had deigned to hire Sombra at times for their work. Sombra really didn't care, her personal mission held above all, and held closest to her chest;
Find the ones who were really pulling the strings. And take those strings from them, so that she alone was truly in charge. Revenge for that little girl? Meaningless, she was already dead. But this...this all boiled down to one thing.
La que tiene la información, tiene el poder.
Personality:
Sombra will have you think she's a playful, almost childish woman; she portrays a confident, cocky attitude, a self-assured demeanor that insists everything is in its grasp. She's almost never angry, almost never frustrated, and really, amigo, she's got no beef with you. She's all smiles and laughter and jokes, and only gets serio when it comes to, say, exposing that a corporation has been exploiting the people of Mexico.
Sombra is an expert in the skill known as 'social engineering'. At heart, this is a hacker's greatest tool, because computers are stupid and will only do exactly what you tell them to do. With that in mind, hacking them is easy; it's the people behind them that are the difficult part, because they can adapt and counter and evolve. But if you can manipulate them, get them to tell you what to do, then your life is made infinitely simpler. And so, Sombra will change herself for whatever approach is necessary at the time.
This doesn't mean she has a multitude of personalities; far from it. She's always playful, always confident. It simply means that at times, she'll twist those to what she needs them to be. Holding someone at gunpoint? Surprise, she was just here to make a friend, and was only doing that to convince others of her 'motivations'. Frustrating her collective with endless countdowns and impossible-to-solve puzzles? Why doesn't she give you a hint in another direction, this was all part of her plan to start. Sombra is an expert at thinking on her feet, and much like a cat, will twist around midair to make it seem as though everything is well within her grasp. Even if things are going badly, please, she's got this.
Never show weakness. Never admit difficulty. If you do, only do it in a way that furthers your own goals - social engineering. Manipulation. All to further her private agenda, which she allows nobody else to know. Sombra craves this above all else, endlessly searching for that group that forced her to be born in the first place; mind, she could thank them in a way. She's not particularly angry that she had to evolve, but she's not particular happy about it, either. Her 'birth' is-was just a catalyst for that quest to find that Conspiracy, because it reawakened a drive within her to be the most powerful she could possibly be. That way, she would never be weak again, a lost little girl who was left behind at the end of the Omnic Crisis with a meaningless name and a meaningless past.
Again, Sombra's not particularly angry about it. She's relatively apathetic about whom she used to be. It was simply...well, there, and means nothing to her now. A part of her that may as well be deleted for how much it has bearing on Sombra herself. She thinks of that girl from time to time, but only to go over the lessons she learned from it; after all, she did learn from a very early age that manipulating people was the way to go, a way to supplement her manipulating computers and technology. So, thank you, little girl, rest in peace and all that. Another casualty of war, but this one a shadow war that Sombra intends to win. She didn't upgrade herself and kill that girl to lose.
Sure, sometimes losing happens. But the real skill is making that part of your plan. Sombra does not accept a loss, she accepts that sometimes you have obstacles and that you just need to pull back and look from another angle. How do you turn that loss in to a step to victory?...she's always examining those setbacks, learning from them, evolving from them. She is never not evolving and perfecting herself, even as she laughs and teases and plans, she's gaining information. You might say she has a lust for it, endlessly reaching for any shred of information that will complete her ultimate goal. She is a glutton for it, greedily absorbing anything and everything she can find.
So with that said? The 'real' Sombra, the one behind that playful attitude?...isn't really that different from that attitude at all. She's simply far more driven than anyone would give her credit for, and all those reasons she's so cocky and confident and skilled...are simply not shared. Because if they were?
People would be far more terrified of her than she wants them to be. After all, you can't make friends if you scare them all away. And she does so appreciate her friends.
Contracts:
Sombra will be suspicious, but hide this behind a pretense of wanting to help, how can she help? Really, though, she's fascinated with the technology, and wants to get her hands on the ship's systems; clearly she can offer tech support and whatnot. Datahashing. Archiving. Management. Etc.
Abilities/Skills:
It's probably worth that Sombra herself is a weapon; she's had her own body surgically altered, implanted with cybernetics that allow her to directly interface with most technologies by simple physical connection. In addition, she's able to project holographic UIs, using them to interact with data by simply 'visualizing' it - essentially, what she imagines can pop up before her, and she can manipulate it at will. Mind, these are only holograms, generally used to help her get a better idea of what she's thinking as opposed to having it all stored up in her mind at one time. Not that she can't do it that way, but when you're midhack, it's generally easier to have a ton of screens up of what you're connected to so that you can use all of your senses - not just your imagination - to work with it all.
She's also set up her implants to work with a small translocator device. This allows her to essentially download herself to its destination through means that we're really not going to get in to because /vague hand gestures it's a short blink teleport. She appears to have stolen these designs from Overwatch itself. Hey, they're useful for something, right? Another bit of stolen tech involves her able to cloak herself via her built-in thermoptic camoflauge. Stealthy puta is stealthy.
All this aside, Sombra can also access things (with a small delay) from a short distance - a somewhat more remote hack, but a hack nonetheless. She generally uses this to shut down equipment as opposed to controlling it, though it's not outside of the realm of possibility. And all that aside, as we've established throughout this application, Sombra is an expert hacker. With that comes a number of assumptions; she understands code, she understands technology, she understands people to a slightly lesser degree but only slightly. It's still quite impressive, especially how she can apply this to her talent for stealth. With that aforementioned camo technology, she can easily sneak up on someone and take them by surprise.
And fun fact, with all that tech she carries around in her? It goes without saying that she has no small amount of electricity charging within her at any given time. Given enough time to deliberately charge herself, Sombra can release this energy all at once in a short-range EMP, disrupting all electrical devices within about a five-meter radius.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Have we gone over that she's an expert hacker yet? Maybe a manipulator? Sneaky sneaky? We've gone over a lot of her strengths already in the bulk of this app, and what we could emphasize here is only really reiterating what has been said. She's intuitive, quick on her feet in more ways than one, possesses a drive to succeed that pushes her past most failures-
Really, Sombra is quite a formidable woman. But nobody is without weaknesses. For one, she's hardly able to take someone in a straight fight. Face to face on equal footing, she's easily overwhelmed, and prefers to stack things in her favor to account for this. In addition, her cockiness can be her downfall- while she certainly tries not to underestimate people, occasionally she'll overestimate her own abilities. They're formidable, but they're not perfection by any means. Her bravado is an intimidation factor in that regard, meant to end fights before they even start.
Physically, she isn't that strong; she's agile and quick on her feet, but she relies on others for brute strength. Really, Sombra relies on others for a lot; hacking is intrinsically collaborative, and involves quite a bit of sharing information/data/etc. A lone wolf has only themselves to count on, and Sombra only does so well when it's only herself. She wants people, craves people, and without them she's stripped of a lot of her power.
And if everyone realizes how much she's been pulling their strings and turns on her?...she is in trouble.
Items:
Aside from what has already been mentioned as part of her - the upgrades noted in her abilities section - Sombra carries with her a fully-automatic machine pistol and a number of ammo clips at any given time. In addition, she also carries a couple translocator beacons linked to her upgrades; as mentioned, she's able to teleport to their location, though she cannot take another with her.

IF I MAY SUGGEST NERFS/lost-in-the-ingress-things - I'm fine with her having systems damaged so that she can't EMP/can't interface as directly with the ship's systems as she otherwise would. I'd like her to still be able to do the holograms/stealth thing, and the translocator/blink is 'cool, but not 100% vital'. Same with her gun.
